Fabienne "Fabbie" Laramee died just before 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, when a Bridgeport home in the 300 block of Connecticut Avenue caught fire, authorities said.

Three others were taken to a hospital for treatment, and eight people, including four children, were left homeless after the blaze, authorities said. The Red Cross is assisting those displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fabbie's family is asking the community for help. A GoFundMe created to cover her funeral costs has raised more than $2,800 of its $10,000 goal as of Thursday morning.

At just 26 years old, she was a vibrant and loving presence in all of our lives. Tragically, her life was cut short due to an apartment fire on December 23, 2024, leaving her family and friends to grapple with an immense sense of grief. Fabbie was not just a relative and a friend; she was a treasured part of our hearts and our community.

Several people posted online tributes to Fabbie, noting her bright future, love for her family and friends, and zeal for life.

"The fabulous Fabbie and smiling baby girl I knew," Zandy DehVincy Gyal posted on Facebook. "The lil one who always greeted me, who I taught in the youth choir, who I picked up in the church van in the morning and was and still is bright as a star. The little one I loved to hear sing. You would give me the most genuine and warmest hugs."
